Preventive Care

  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Limit alcohol use.
  • Get an annual mammogram, especially starting at age 40+.
  • Learn about the risks of hormone replacement therapy or birth control.
  • Talk with your doctor about family history and BRCA genes.

Common Symptoms of Breast Cancer

  • Visible hard or soft lump
  • Skin dimpling 
  • Skin irritation
  • Armpit, breast, or nipple pain
  • Thickening or lumping
  • Skin texture changes
  • Inverted or nipple retraction
  • Nipple discharge
  • Skin discoloration 
  • Redness or rash on at least a third of the breast
  • Sudden changes in breast size

Breast Cancer Awareness - Get Involved

  •  Participate in Screenings: Encourage yearly mammograms for women over 40 (or earlier if high-risk).
  • Donate and Fundraise: Support organizations that provide free mammograms and research, such as the National Breast Cancer Foundation or Susan G. Komen.
  • Wear Pink: Show support and spark conversations about early detection.
  • Educate: Learn about risk factors, such as age, obesity, alcohol use, and family history.

Recovery time for laparoscopic surgery varies depending on the type of surgery you have. In general, most patients can return to work and resume normal activities within a week or two.


We offer several types of breast surgeries, including lumpectomy and masectomy. During your consultation, your surgeon will help you determine which surgery is right for you.


No, you do not need a referral to make an appointment at our practice. However, some insurance plans may require a referral or "pre-authorization" for certain procedures. Please contact our office for more information.
